About Mark Drake

Mark is a Producer/Director, Plastic Scouser and televisual polyglot. Trained as a broadcast journalist, he started off his career as a clapper loader on Hollywood features before sidestepping into unscripted TV. His BAFTA award winning broadcast credits straddle the factual gamut, from landmark ob-docs and big budget reality to natural history, formatted challenge shows and everything in between. He’s thrown celebrities into helicopters, thrown children out of helicopters and thrown manned helicopters into the ocean. In fact if the job involves throwing people and helicopters… he’s probably your man.

Independently he’s also been making his own short films, receiving BFI funding and he garnered a place in Sundance London’s selective shorts programme. He continues to try to forge a path into scripted and was chosen as part of Directors UK’s 2025 ‘Inspire’ cohort, being mentored by legendary comedy director, Matt Lipsey.
